Harold Price

Harold Marshall Price, widower of Katie Roper Starnes Price, died April 23, 2013 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans’ Nursing Home in Anderson.

Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Alfred Aiken Sr. and Ethel Ruby Fowler Price. Harold was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Furman University where he served as cheerleader at both schools, two years at GHS and three years at Furman, where he was head cheerleader his senior year. Harold continued with graduate studies at the University of Denver while he was in the U.S. Air Force. After his military duties, he continued his education at Massey Junior College, Atlanta, GA and the University of South Carolina, Division of Continuing Education.

Harold had a private accounting business and was the co-owner, with his wife Katie, of Starnes Club Forrest, where together they made many friends throughout the years.

Surviving are a sister, Betty Price of Greenwood; two brothers, Rev. Alfred A. “Al” (Doris) Price, Jr. of W. Columbia and Robert L. “Bob” (Marie) Price of Columbia; many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Gracie P. Ayers, Mary P. Long and four brothers, Hubert, Edgar, Leonard and Lewis Price as well as his faithful canine companion, Tamatha Sue Price.

A private family burial will be held in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Richard M. Campbell Veterans’ Nursing Home, 4605 Belton Hwy., Anderson, SC 29621; PHS Hospice, 102 Commons Blvd. Suite C-1, Piedmont, SC 29673 or to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, PO Box 1178, Greenwood, SC  29648.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to all of the people who cared for Harold at two assisted living facilities, most recently at Richard M. Campbell Veterans’ Nursing Home. A special thanks to Donna Blackston, Beth Kelly, Topeka Martin, PHS Hospice, Brent Moore, Ray Medlock and LaNelle Grubbs.

What a wonderful man this was....such fun to be around and a great bartender...alot of years he spent at Starnes Club....RIP Harold...........
