Ruth McClain Martin - Ware Shoals

Ruth Banister McClain Martin, 99, formerly of South Greenwood Ave., widow of Wilford Martin, died Sunday April 28, 2013 at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center in Laurens.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe and Mae Jones Banister. She was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and was retired from Riegel Textile Co. She was twice married, first to the late James Aiken McClain.

Surviving are a son, James Douglas McClain of Ware Shoals, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Betty M. Cork, two brothers, Jesse E. Banister and J.D. Banister, and a sister, Hazel B. Ashley.

Memorial Graveside services will be held 2 P.M.on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Leon Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials made to Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center, 1 Martha Franks Drive, Laurens, S.C. 29360 Online condolences may be made at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com  Parker-White-Pruitt Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of arrangements.

Douglas and family, you mother was such a lovely lady, I have so many memories from the time we lived on Jackson St. until adult hood..no matter where we saw her there was alway that sweet smile.
