The senior recital, which will be held in Lander’s Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium, is free and open to the public. Soprano Corrie Woods will be the featured performer in the Lander University music department’s annual senior voice recital Tuesday, March 26, at 8 p.m.

Woods, a native of Leavenworth, Kan., is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Music with Vocal Emphasis.

Dr. Lila Noonkester, chair of Lander’s music department and associate professor of music, said Woods will sing art songs and operatic arias by Mozart, Schubert, Strauss, Meyerbeer, Faure, Hahn and Argento. Amy Blackwood, lecturer of music and staff accompanist, will accompany Woods on piano.

According to Noonkester, Woods has performed as soloist with Lander’s University and Old Main Singers, Lander Opera Scenes, in the Ann Mason Hutto Recital Series Master Classes and in the university’s Honors Recital and Collage Concert. Last June, she participated in the 2012 Harrower Summer Opera Workshop in Atlanta.

Woods plans to continue her music education and is auditioning for graduate school admission.

The senior recital, which will be held in Lander’s Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium, is free and open to the public.
