Thanks for reading GwdToday - Everyday!

The Ware Shoals High School student council recently sent 8 delegates and 2 state officers to the South Carolina Association of Student Councils 65th Annual State Convention in Pawley’s Island, SC. While there the council was honored for its holding of the District 6 Rally in October.  Since the school year began the council has been working hard to improve their council and school.

They have put on many successful projects and events two of which were won in their division for the 1A/2A High School Category because of their great success. The council entered and won for their “District Rally Car Wash” fundraiser in the fundraising category because of their ability to gather students even in the summer and raise enough money to, along with the generous donations from the community, pay completely for the District 6 Rally. This allowed the council to donate all the registration fees from students for the rally back SCASC for support of the State Rally.

The council also took home the prize in the community category for the “Community Wide Basketball Game”, a fundraiser for Christmas for Kids which is put with help from the public service, and Movies & More in Ware Shoals.

The judges were impressed by the council’s ability to work with outside businesses and bring the community together. Student Council President Jacob Moore was also honored as a nominee for the Terry McCoy Leadership Hall of Fame. The year has been bright and full of success for the Ware Shoals High School student council.
