Lander volleyball players Tarryn Angermeier and Madison Kubal received the Peach Belt Conference’s weekly honors for games played Oct. 15-21, it was announced by the league office today.
Angermeier, a freshman middle hitter from Spartanburg, S.C., was named the Player of the Week, while Kubal, a senior libero from Dacula, Ga., received the Specialist of the Week honor.
Angermeier led the Bearcats to a 3-1 week by averaging 3.2 kills per set and 24 total blocks. She tallied 19 kills and seven blocks against Newberry, 18 kills and five blocks against Lenoir-Rhyne and 17 kills and eight blocks against Lees-McRae. For the week, she posted a .230 hitting percentage and chipped in 1.12 digs per set, six service aces and an assist.
The freshman is first in the PBC in blocks per set (0.99) and total blocks (87), third in total kills (271) and fifth in kills per set (3.08).
Kubal averaged 5.44 digs per set in the four matches. She opened with 38 digs against Newberry, then had 25 against Lees-McRae and 22 against Lenoir-Rhyne.
She is ranked third in the PBC in total digs (360) and fourth in digs per set.
