The Greenwood Eagles baseball team solidified their position atop Region I-4A play Tuesday night, as they snuck past the Easley Green Wave 2-1 at Eagle Field.
Jonathan Wright gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning, driving in Matthew Bridges. After Easley tied the game in the top of the sixth, Rusty Hughes drove in Blake White for the deciding run in the bottom of the sixth.
Gatlin Minick started for the Eagles, going 5 2/3 innings, allowing five hits, one run and two walks, striking out three. Zack Richardson earned the win in relief, striking out three.
Bridges led the Eagles offensively with two hits, while Wright, Hughes, White, and Bryce Fowler added one hit apiece.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 8-3 overall, and 7-2 in Region I-4A play. They will travel to Woodmont Thursday at 6:00 p.m. for another region contest.
