Greenwood Festival Chorale presents America: Land That I Love
Thanks for reading GwdToday - Everyday!

Join the Greenwood Festival Chorale in a concert of home-grown music on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 7:30 PM, in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Auditorium at Lander University. An official event of the South Carolina Festival of Flowers, this concert will be arranged in four sections to highlight favorite American songs from different genres. Songs of Faith will feature four Shaker hymns, including God Leads Us Along, and How Can I Keep from Singing. Folk Songs and Spirituals will include Mack Wilberg’s Shenandoah along with an arrangement of Soon Ah Will Be Done and an Old West Medley.

Songs of the Civil War will include some lighthearted selections, such as Goober Peas, as well as the beautifully haunting Ashokan Farewell. Also included in this section is An American Trilogy of Dixie, Battle Hymn of the Republic, and All My Trials. The final section, An American Collection, will highlight Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and songs from Irving Berlin’s America. The concert will conclude with Berlin’s God Bless America.

Robert P. Glick is Artistic Director and Conductor of the Greenwood Festival Chorale. Amy Blackwood is chorale accompanist, and Matthew Miller will add additional keyboard accompaniment. Guest soloists, Fran Nabholz, Soprano, and Mark Nabholz, Tenor, of Anderson, will join the Chorale for this concert.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youth ages 18 and under. Tickets will be available at the Arts Center in the Federal Building, from Chorale members, and at the door.

This concert is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of SC. Additional support is given by the Greenwood County Community Foundation.

We hope to see you on Tuesday, June 10, at 7:30 PM, in the auditorium at Lander University for AMERICA: LAND THAT I LOVE!
