Lander baseball player Patrick Grady reaped two hefty honors today after leading then-unranked Lander to a three-game, weekend sweep of defending national champion and No. 2-ranked West Chester University.

Grady, a junior from Pompano Beach, Fla., was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Southeast Player of the Week and the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week. He has also been nominated for national player of the week honors.

During the weekend against West Chester, Grady batted .556 with a 1.222 slugging percentage. He went 5-for-9 with two home runs and five RBI. Grady was hit by five pitches in the three games and had a .714 on-base percentage. He also stole one base and made no errors in the outfield with one assist.

Grady currently leads the Peach Belt with three home runs and 14 RBI and is tied for sixth in batting average with .476.

Lander, which is ranked No. 7 this week in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's NCAA Division II national poll, won the first game of the series, 14-1, on Friday, then downed the Golden Rams 7-4 on Saturday, and 5-0 on Sunday.
