Piedmont Agency on Aging will deliver a hot, Thanksgiving Day meal to Meals on Wheels recipients on November 22nd. Carolina Vascular is sponsoring the holiday meal, which includes a turkey & dressing meal and pumpkin pie. An annual event for 12 years, Meals on Wheels will prepare and deliver over 125 turkey dinners to homebound seniors who may not have family around this Thanksgiving holiday.
Delivery will include the Ninety Six and Ware Shoals communities as well. The Thanksgiving Day delivery has become a favorite tradition for Piedmont Agency on Aging. The holiday deliveries attracts lots of volunteers. Some volunteers have made the Thanksgiving deliveries a part of their own holiday tradition.
Meals on Wheels has also enjoyed a long partnership with the Greenwood High Student Government Association. The SGA students serve on our packaging line and many also deliver the turkey dinners where needed.
Children at Lifetime Discoveries Child Care Center make special Thanksgiving placemats for the seniors to enjoy. If you would like to be a part of this year's Thanksgiving Day deliveries, please call Tracey Marcengill at 223-0164 ext. 231.
