The Greenwood chapter of the Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO) will helping people in Greenwood with gift wrapping at the Greenwood Mall this weekend as a fundraiser to help with women’s scholarships.
The PEO’s mission is to promote educational opportunities for women. PEO members proudly sponsor no less than six international philanthropies, or projects, designed to assist women with their educational goals.
“This is our first year doing this,” said PEO fundraising chairperson Patti Gagstetter. “We provide a certain amount of funds to the national organization each year for scholarships. We hope to use this fundraiser to help some local women attending college in Greenwood.”
The gift wrapping station will be set up near Center Court just outside The Children’s Place. Member of PEO will be wrapping gifts Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday noon to 8 p.m.
There will be a nice assortment of colorful papers, gift bows, ribbons and gift tags. Small jewelry and wallet sized boxes will be $2 to wrap, shirt boxes will be $3 and larger gifts will be $4. For that extra special look, more decorative bows will be available for an extra $1. Donors will need to provide their own boxes and tissue paper.
