A fire occurred outside of the Wells Fargo Bank located at 345 Bypass 72 NE in Greenwood.
At around 10:20 a.m., officials from the Greenwood Police Department, Greenwood City Fire Department, and Greenwood County EMS responded to the scene of a fire which started in the bushes outside the bank building.
According to witness David Lyerly, he was riding through the Wells Fargo parking lot, when he saw bushes outside of the bank on fire, in excess of three feet high. After seeing an electrical box and wires on the side of the bank near the blaze, he quickly called 911 and then notified employees inside the bank of the fire.
City of Greenwood firefighters rapidly extinqushed the blaze which burned several bushes and melted the bottoms of the shutters on the exterior of the Wells Fargo building.
