Two men have been arrested and charged after investigators say that they provided alcohol and marijuana to a 14-year-old and 15-year-old girl last month.
According to a report from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to 199 Cothran Drive in Greenwood just before 11 p.m. on Feb. 16 after receiving a call from one of the girls’ mother stating that her daughter and a friend were at the residence with boys without adult supervision.
Deputies went to the rear door of the residence and could hear multiple male voices inside the home. The report states that it took several minutes for the door to be opened once deputies knocked.
According to the report, deputies could smell the odor of marijuana when the door was opened. Deputies observed one of the girls attempt to conceal a bottle of vodka in a closet. The girls told deputies that the alcohol belonged to one of the girl’s older brother, later identified as Christopher Scott Vaughn, 23, of 112 Windtree Court, brought the vodka and the marijuana to the residence.
According to the report, deputies located Vaughn and two other males hiding in the attic. One of the males, Mathew McKenzie Duffie, 24, of 869 Old Plum Branch Road in McCormick, was arrested Monday in connection with the incident. The report states that Vaughn gave a false name to deputies and was very argumentative to the point of impeding the investigation.
Vaughn has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and giving false information to a police officer. He was arrested on Feb. 17 and given a bond of $10,200, which he posted on Feb. 19, records indicate.
Duffie has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and give a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
