A Greenwood man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly struck another man with a pistol and then pointed the gun at the man while threatening to kill him.
According to a report from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged victim came to the Sheriff’s office last Saturday, Mar. 14, just after 2 p.m. to report that another man, later identified as Deterrious Anquawn Edwards, 24, of 202 Iroquois Drive in Greenwood, had struck him in the head with a pistol.
According to the report, the alleged victim told police that Edwards came to his place of employment and the two began arguing. The alleged victim told police that, as he walked past Edwards, Edwards struck him with his fist. The alleged victim then told police that he retaliated, striking Edwards with a fist before Edwards pulled out a gun and hit him the temple with it.
According to the report, the alleged victim told police that Edwards pointed the gun at him and said that he would kill him if the victim went around Edwards’ baby’s mother or Edwards’ children again. The alleged victim then told police that Edwards ran to his vehicle, pointed the gun at him again and said, “I will you and that (expletive) if you go to the police.”
Edwards has been charged with first degree assault and battery and pointing and presenting a firearm at a person. He turned himself in to authorities on Thursday. He was given a $10,000 cash or surety bond on Thursday afternoon and remains incarcerated at the Greenwood County Detention Center.
