The Greenwood Community Theatre hosted its sixth annual Blue Grass Blue Jeans, and Barbeque fundraiser Thursday night at the Arts Central Federal Building. Attendees enjoyed barbeque plates, beverages, and live Bluegrass music, headlined by the Trey Ward Band.

“It’s great to be able to do this,” Greenwood Community Theatre Executive Director Stephen Gilbert said. “I love being able to give back to the community. Even though it is a fundraiser, it’s also our way to say thank you to the community. It brings together all of the people that support us throughout the year, and it gives them a chance to enjoy some really good Bluegrass and really good barbeque.”

According to Gilbert, the event has become a mainstay in the list of programs that the Greenwood Community Theatre offers each year.

“Since we have started it, it’s slowly grown and become a little more popular each year,” Gilbert said. “Now, it’s become a staple of one of our shows we do every year and people expect it.”

As Gilbert looks forward to future programs, he explained that events such as the Bluegrass, Blue Jeans, and Barbeque fundraiser wouldn’t be possible without the support of the Greenwood community.

“Our community support is fantastic,” Gilbert said. “We are very blessed with our community support. I would definitely say it’s second to none.”
