GREENWOOD—Wesley Commons recently hosted an international dinner for People to People, an organization promoting international understanding and friendship through educational, cultural and humanitarian efforts.
S.C. Sen. Floyd Nicholson (D-Greenwood) spoke, telling the gathering that lawmakers often spend too much time on legislation, such as the recent focus on guns, when they should instead be working on a path toward peace.
International students from Lander University performed at the dinner, as did a bagpiper from Emerald High School. Tables at the event were decorated to reflect Chinese, African, English, American, Indian, Tahitian, Thai and Hawaiian themes.
An international meal was prepared by the Wesley Commons Culinary Department.
