April 21-27 is Administrative Professionals Week (formerly National Secretaries Day), when bosses and businesses honor the work their admins perform all year long. The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) founded this event in 1952 and remains the sole official sponsor of APW.

According to the U.S. Dept. of Labor, 4.3 million administrative assistants and secretaries, along with 1.4 million supervisors of office and administrative support staff, were employed in the United States in 2010. Nearly 500,000 administrative assistant and secretarial positions will be added in the U.S. between 2010 and 2020, representing growth of 12 percent. Administrative professionals have a significant impact on every facet of the economy. They are an integral to modern business and their work impacts nearly every facet of the economy.

The SC Division of IAAP consists of 14 professional chapters throughout the State of South Carolina.  For more information on local Administrative Professionals Day events, visit the SC IAAP website www.iaap-southcarolina.org or Membership Chair, Tiffany L. Albert, CAP-OM at 864- 992-5407.
