A Greenwood man is facing multiple charges after police say he followed his ex-girlfriend to two different homes on Sunday.
According to reports from the Greenwood Police Department and the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, police responded to two separate locations on Sunday in reference to a domestic dispute. Deputies with GCSO initially responded to a home on Wheatfield Drive at about 8 a.m. after the victim reported that her ex-boyfriend, later identified as Collie Rodney Buckett, 32, of Greenwood SC, had chokd her and bit her arm. Police were unable to locate Buckett at that time.
According to the reports, GPD officers responded to the home of the victim’s mother, located on Sumter Street, at about 3:20 p.m. after Buckett followed the victim there. The victim told police that Buckett confronted her in a parked vehicle and told her he would “put her six feet under” in addition to telling her that he would “do another 10 years in prison” if he had to.
According to the reports, deputies from GCSO responded to the Wheatfield Drive residence again at about 5:45 p.m. after receiving a report that Buckett was once again trying to gain entry to the residence. Deputies located Buckett on Evans Pond Road near Wheatfield Drive. Buckett dropped a razor blade box cutter before he stopped for deputies. Buckett told deputies that he lived at the Wheatfield Drive residence and became uncooperative after being told why he was being arrested. The reports state that Buckett and the victim do not live together, do not have any common children and have never been married.
Court records indicate that Buckett was sentenced to five years in prison, suspended to 251 days and three years of probation, on a charge of pointing and presenting a firearm in 2003. In 2004, he was sentenced to four years in prison on charges of possession with intent to distribute a schedule I, II, or III controlled substance, resisting arrest and failure to stop for a blue light. Court records also show a pending charge of indecent exposure stemming from a Dec. 2012 incident. Jail records indicate that Buckett was charged with third degree assault and battery and stalking in connection with the incidents on Sunday. His bond was set at $26, 092.50 by a magistrate judge on Monday.
