Man charged in connection with burglary

A Greenwood man is facing charges after police say he entered a home in Hodges and stole about $3,000 worth of various items from the home.

According to a report from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, police were dispatched to 114 Hodges Circle in Hodges just after 2 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle in the driveway. When officers arrived, they determined the home had been entered. Eye witnesses gave police a description of the man they saw around the house.

According to the report, a deputy spotted a man matching the description, later identified as Scott Schanen Vaughn, 33, of 225 Merriman Ave. in Greenwood, walking down Highway 25. The man was brought back to the burglarized home where he gave a full confession to police about burglarizing the home. He took police to the place where he hid four bags of items, including sports memorabilia, comic books and movies, stolen from the residence. Vaughn also admitted to cutting a catalytic converter from a vehicle at the residence.

Vaughn has been charged with second degree burglary and grand larceny in connection with the incident.
