Piedmont Technical College is taking Instant Admissions Day on the road.
Instant Admissions Days have provided students the opportunity to complete most, if not all, of the requirements for enrollment. These opportunities are now being made available to students in Laurens and Newberry counties as well as Greenwood.
“We wanted to provide the Instant Admissions process to Laurens and Newberry to make it easier for students in those areas,” said Tanisha Latimer, dean of enrollment management.
Instant Admissions in Laurens County will be Tuesday, June 25 and in Newberry Wednesday, June 26 with both beginning at 8:30 a.m. Instant Admissions in Greenwood will be Thursday, June 27 for students interested in enrolling for Fall. Students who register at this time will qualify to become “VIPs” and receive their first choice of classes and a $25 registration fee waiver. Admissions and financial aid counselors will be on hand to help students through the entire enrollment process in just one day.
While students may come any time in Greenwood, the process will be a little different in Laurens and Newberry. For the county campus Instant Admissions Days, the process will be conducted as one group beginning with placement testing at 9 a.m. Interested students may come at any time to Laurens and Newberry, but they are not guaranteed they will complete the entire process in one day.
“Any student who comes after 9 will be able to do whatever is being offered at that time,” sad Latimer.
During the Instant Admissions Day, students can apply, take the placement test, complete the FAFSA for financial aid and register for classes with a counselor. Students who register for classes will be entered in drawings at all three locations, including a Kindle HD at Greenwood.
“Some prospective students can find the process a little overwhelming,” said Latimer. “We wanted them to see that they are not alone.”
Latimer said the day will allow students to register in an enjoyable environment. Tours will be provided along with the opportunity for students to meet with faculty from the areas they are interested in pursuing.
Instant Admissions Day in Greenwood will be held 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the last placement testing beginning at 4:30 p.m. Students interested in attending should bring their official high school transcript or GED Score report; official college transcripts if they have completed any previous college courses; a photo ID; and their 2012 tax return forms. The process will take two to four hours to complete, but will include everything the student will need to enroll in classes.
For those unable to attend, Latimer encourages them to remember there will be two more Instant Admission Days on July 18 and August 1 for students interested in enrolling for Fall.
“We want them to come out and have a good time,” Latimer said. “It is all about business and getting things done, but we’re here, ready to help them. We’re all about transforming lives.”
