The Greenwood Police say that they are investigating the theft of shingles from two work sites in Greenwood that have occurred in the last few days.
According to GPD reports, shingles have been stolen from two locations in Greenwood. The first occurred over the weekend. Police were notified Monday morning that 31 packs of shingles, valued at $930, were stolen from behind the residence at 152 Grace St. Officers found footprints in the mud near where the shingles were stored, but were unable to observe any identifying marks due to the heavy rains.
The second incident was reported Tuesday morning. There were 21 bundles of shingles stolen from the residence at 228 Kitson St. According to Michael Cole, owner of Cole’s Roofing and Remodeling, 84 bundles of special order shingles were delivered to the work site. Cole initially thought that the delivery was short, but the supply company verified the delivery. Cole says that it is disappointing to have thieves thwart the efforts of honest, hard-working people.
“I'd really like the shingles returned,” Cole said. “We're out here working hard to make a living and thieves are out here doing everything they can to make it hard on the honest people.”
