One dead in Tuesday night shooting

A shooting in the 800 block of Kings Court, near Milwee Avenue, left one man dead Tuesday night.

Greenwood County Coroner Sonny Cox has identified the victim as 27-year-old James David Moore Jr., of 218 Mosley Rd., Greenwood. Cox said an autopsy would be performed Wednesday morning in Anderson to determine the manner and cause of death.

Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Kings Court at about 8 p.m. Tuesday night after receiving a call saying gunshots had been fired. When police arrived, they found Moore’s body lying on the edge of the road. Greenwood County EMS arrived and attempted to revive Moore. Cox pronounced Moore dead at the scene.

Investigators with the Violent Crimes Task Force are investigating the shooting.

Investigators say that an altercation began in the residence at 802 Kings Court that eventually spilled out into the yard. At some point, shots were fired. Moore was shot at least one time during the altercation.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
