SHOOTING SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

GREENWOOD, SC – The Greenwood Sheriff’s Office has arrested Phillip Heath Hollingsworth in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday morning around 2:00 am in Waterloo.

According to officials with Laurens County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), Hollingsworth got into an argument with another male that lived at the same residence. LCSO believes that Hollingsworth then shot the other man before fleeing the scene. Laurens County Coroner Nick Nichols has confirmed the victim as Bill Ardis, 65, of 67 Mercy Lane. Ardis died at the scene as a result of a gun shot wound to the head from a 12-guage shotgun.

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office along with Greenwood County Sheriff and Ninety Six Police searched for Hollingsworth who was considered armed and dangerous and had last been seen in the Coronaca area Thursday morning. The search for Hollingsworth prompted Greenwood School District 52 in Ninety Six and District 51 in Ware Shoals to go to a full lockdown. District 50 went to a heightened state of alert.

According to Capt Ray Watson with the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, Hollingsworth turned himself in peacefully on Quarry Road near Highway 246. Watson said he has been turned over to Laurens County officials.

So he was sentenced to 15 years back in May of 2010 but didn't have to serve that. This could have all been avoided if he had been made to serve his time. So sad!

why isnt anyone saying anything about the girl that was involved? Bill was a GREAT man and would do anything to help anyone out. He was taken advantage of by Heath and the girl this arguement was over. I am disgusted with news 7 for having a certain woman on there that is a known meth addict. These people on meth should be locked up and never let out! GOD BLESS BILL ARDIS AND HIS FAMILY!!!!
