Brown wins Ware Shoals special election

WARE SHOALS – The first of what will be several special elections in the Lakelands area took place Tuesday night to fill one of three vacant seats on the Ware Shoals Town Council. After the polls closed, it was John D. Brown winning the election with 49 percent of the vote.

About 160 of the nearly 1,300 registered voters turned out to vote in Tuesday’s election, according to the Greenwood County website. Brown received 80 of those votes, edging out Rick Curtis, who received 64 votes, and former police chief Calvin Culbertson, who received 18 votes.
