An early morning blaze engulfed a home on Wilson Bridge Road in Ninety Six Wednesday.
Four fire departments responded to 403 Wilson Bridge Rd. just before 3 a.m. Wednesday morning after a house caught fire. Officials said that the lone occupant of the home was able to escape the blaze unscathed. Officials said they are unsure of what started the fire, but it appeared to start in the kitchen.
The blaze jumped into the attic, officials said, igniting the home’s insulation and waves of smoke into the early morning sky from all around the roofline of the house.
Ninety Six Fire Department, Coronaca Fire Department, Lower Lake Fire Department, Highway 34 Fire Department, Greenwood County EMS and the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
The American Red Cross responded to assist the homeowner with immediate needs.
