Nicholas Otis Brown, Sr., 81

Nicholas Otis Brown, Sr., 81, resident of 404 Walnut Street, husband of Iris Kelly Brown, entered into rest to be with his Lord at Self Regional Medical Center on Friday, August 31, 2012.

Born in McCormick County, July 24, 1931, he was a son of the late Creight and Polly Ann Singleton Brown. He was retired from the Greenwood County Housing Authority.

Otis greatly enjoyed the times with his coffee drinking friends at the Huddle House and family occasions with his children and all of his grandchildren and their extended families. He was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Effie "Pete" and husband Wayne Calloway of Abbeville; a son, Nicholas O. "Buck" Brown, Jr. and friend Brenda Proffitt of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Crystal Voiselle, Allison (Tommy) McAlister and Nicholas O. "Nickey" Brown, III, all of Greenwood; great grandchildren, Leigha Voiselle, Taylor McAlister and Ashley McAlister; a great-great grandchild, Carson Clamp; and a brother, Talmadge Brown of Spartanburg.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dustin Sims and Rev. Reuel Westbrook officiating.

Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Brown, Roger Edwards, Brad Edwards, Brian Edwards, Kenny Brown, Craig Wiley and Thomas Wiley.
Honorary escort will be Ronnie Dobbins, Donnie Dobbins, John Lamb, Donnie Stewart, Donnie Davenport, Cecil Simpson, Bill Rushton, Carl Mobley and Giles Daniel.

The family is at the home on Walnut Street and will receive friends at the funeral home 2-3 Sunday afternoon.

Memorials may be made to Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, 509 Kirksey Drive, Greenwood, SC 29646.
