Charles Edward Teague, Jr., 73, resident of 413 E. Durst Avenue, husband of Frances Bell Teague, died October 16, 2012 at Hospice House.
Born in Ninety Six, September 27, 1939, he was the son of Ellen Simpson Teague Rice and the late Charles E. Teague, Sr., who died in battle during World War II. Charles was a graduate of Greenwood High School and attended Clemson University. He was retired from M.B. Kahn, Inc. and was previously employed by the South Carolina Highway Department. After retirement he became a cost estimate consultant with several contractors.
He was a faithful servant, member and past deacon of Woodfields Baptist Church and was a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class of the church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home and mother of Ninety Six are a son, Rev. Charles N. “Chuck” (Angie) Teague of Helena, AL; two daughters, Denise (Ronnie) Mock of Sumter and Cheryl (Frank) Elliott of Greenwood; three sisters, Christine (Gary, Sr.) Moore, Betty (Gayle) Vaughn and Joyce (Fred) Cabe, all of Greenwood; grandchildren, Briley Teague, Taylor Elliott, Bryson Mock, Braydon Mock, A.J. Elliott, Matthew Teague, Bree Anna Mock and Emma Elliott; and a host of friends who were like his family. He was predeceased by his step father, L. Milford Rice.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Thomason, Rev. Charles “Chuck” Teague and Rev. Robbie Stollger officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mark Moore, Gary Moore, Jr., Greg Vaughn, Hal Simpson, Watson Dorn, Kevin Bannister, Preston Sprouse and Jim Dorn.
Honorary escort will be Tony Heard, David Wheatley, George Nicholson, Clevis Craft, Stan Elrod, John Pruitt and Ray Faulkner.
The family is at the home on Durst Avenue and will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 4 Thursday afternoon.
