Martha Virginia Weeks Rogers, 87, resident of Morningside Assisted Living and former resident of 709 Woodlawn Rd., wife of Joseph F. “Joe” Rogers died December 22, 2012 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in McCormick County, March 18, 1925, she was a daughter of the late John Allen and Maggie Eva Walker Weeks. She was a 1942 graduate of Greenwood High School. She was formerly employed by Greenwood Mills and retired from Nantex.
A member of Tranquil United Methodist Church, she was also a member of the Brockwell Sunday School Class and was an active volunteer with The Food Bank. She was a loving wife and mother, and had a forever binding tie to her brothers and sisters. Anyone who knew Virginia knew their lives had been touched by an angel. There are many fond memories to sustain us of fun and let us not forget hard work and pride. She was a shining example of one with a strong Christian faith, as she lived it every day.
Surviving in addition to her devoted husband of almost 70 years of the home are three sons, Wayne (Connie) Rogers of Greenwood, George (Ann) Rogers of Ninety Six and Mitch (Katherine) Rogers of Greenville; three sisters, Mary W. Scott and Nira W. Miles, both of Greenwood and Jean W. Pressley of Florence; a brother, Lester (Bobbie) Weeks of Greenwood; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and her special canine companion, “ Gracie”. We all are privileged to have been a member of her family.
She was predeceased by brothers, Ralph Weeks, James Weeks and Billy Weeks.
