Mabel Turner, 92

Mabel Gilmer Turner, 92, former resident of 208 Hwy 702, widow of Morrall A. Turner, Sr., died December 26, 2012 at Brian Center Nursing Care in Columbia.

Born in the Phoenix Community of Greenwood County, October 25, 1920, she was a daughter of the late John Andrew and Dora Alewine Gilmer.  Mrs. Turner retired from Greenwood Mills, Adams Plant.

A member of Siloam Baptist Church, she was also a former member of the TEL Sunday School Class, a former director of the WMU and a former choir member.  She also formerly worked with the Shut-In Ministries.

Mrs. Turner was the last member of her immediate family.

Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Turner Gunter and husband Steve of Columbia; her granddaughter, Leara Owens and husband, SFC Timothy, and their daughter Alexandra, all currently station at Fort Riley, Kansas and a grandson, David Lewis of Park City, Utah.  She was predeceased by a son, Morrall A. Turner, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 Saturday at Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Webb and Rev. Steve Crittenton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Kunkle, Travis Kunkle, Brian Lollis, Robert Lollis, Travis Lollis, SFC Timothy Owens, Bobby Turner and Justin Turner.

Honorary escort will be Harris Bridges, Hal Brown, Mick Kunkle, Mike Leopard, Dave Martin, Wayne Martin, Calvin Stanfield, Ronnie Turner, Curtis Turner, Lowell White and Bobby Wideman.

The body is at Blyth Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends in the Social Hall of Siloam Baptist Church from 10 to 11 Saturday morning.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Siloam Baptist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund, PO Box 373, Ninety Six, SC 29666.
