Clara Bailey "Tat" Robeson, 97

Clara Bailey “Tat” Robeson, 97, resident of 1110 Marshall Road, widow of William B. “Bart” Robeson, Jr., died February 5, 2013 at Wesley Commons.

Born August 10, 1915, in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Rosalie McCaslan Bailey.  She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Lander College and received her Masters Degree in Voice from Julliard School in New York.  She was professor of voice at Flora McDonald College in Red Spring, NC and later a homemaker. 

A member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenwood, she was also a lifelong member of the choir, a former deacon and elder of the church and an Honorary Life Member of the Presbyterian Women.  She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Alliance Francaise, the Music Club, the Lander Club, the McKissick Club and the Iris Garden Club. 

Surviving are a daughter, Clara R. “Tookie” and husband Robert L. Buchanan, Jr. of Aiken; a son, William Bartram “Bart”, III and wife Christy Robeson of Greenville; five grandchildren, Dr. Robert Lee Buchanan, III, William Tarrant Buchanan (fiancé, Amy Elizabeth McEachin), Mary Bailey Buchanan, William Bartram Robeson, IV and Emily Elizabeth Robeson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Oakbrook Memorial Park with a reception to follow in the Oakbrook Family Center.

The family will be at their respective homes.

Memorials may be made to either the Clara Bailey Robeson Voice Scholarship, c/o the Lander University Foundation, 320 Stanley Avenue, Greenwood, SC  29649, or to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 426, Greenwood, SC  29648, Thornwell Home for Children, 302 S. Broad Street, Clinton, SC  29325.
