Martha Minor Whitmore, 78

Martha Minor Whitmore, 78, of 210 Parker Avenue, widow of Lerlie W. Whitmore died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at the Brian Center, Columbia.

  Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Connie Rodgers Minor. She retired from the Abney Mills and Wal-Mart.  Martha was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church (formerly Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church).

  She was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Turner and a grandchild, Jerry Enice Owens.

  Surviving are three children, Betty Owens and her husband, Jerry, of Laurens, Loretta Bruce and her husband, Lee, of Columbia, and Karen Kirkland and her husband, Dennis, of Waterloo; two sisters, Nadine Waters of Marble, N.C. and Joyce Weeks of Boiling Springs; two brothers, Larry Minor of Marble, N.C. and Joseph Russell Minor of Fort Pearce, FL; three grandchildren, Sara Owens of Laurens, Christopher Adam Kyzer of Columbia, and Cora Owens of Laurens; and four great grandchildren, William Newman and Josh Newman of Laurens, and Christopher Bentley Kyzer and McKenzie Rose Dalton of Columbia.

  Services will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clay Summers officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

  Pallbearers will be Sara Owens, Adam Kyzer, Josh Newman and William Newman.

The family will receive friends before the service on Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
