William Little "Bill" Bailey, 84

William Little “Bill” Bailey, 84, resident of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center, former resident of Greenwood, husband of 66 years of Iris Burnett Bailey, died February 14, 2013, at Laurens County Hospital. 

Born September 19, 1928, in Laurens, he was a son of the late Mary Little Bailey Arnold.  He moved to Greenwood early on where he would remain until 1978, when he became the managing partner in Carolina Concrete Company.  Mr. Bailey held his position with the firm for more than 20 years and retired to grow more tomatoes and see more Clemson sporting events.  He accepted every opportunity to be with friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife of Martha Franks are a son, James William and wife Johnnie Bailey of Greenwood; a daughter, Anne B. and husband Tripp Jones of Columbia; grandchildren, Stan (Holly) Jones of Charleston, Ryan (Sarah) Jones of Marietta, GA and Mary Kathryn Bailey of Rock Hill; great-grandchildren, Hannah Jones, Tide Jones and Caitlyn Jones.

He was preceded in death by his mother and only sister, Louise Bailey Garrett.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Oakbrook Memorial Park in Greenwood with Rev. Marcus G. Coker and Rev. Russell Dean officiating.  A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 Sunday at the Chapel of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center.

The family will receive friends at Martha Franks immediately following the memorial service.

It is with grateful appreciation that the family recognizes the officers, nurses and staff of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center for their care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either, the First Presbyterian Church of Laurens, 400 West Main Street, Laurens, SC  29360, or to the Martha Franks BRC, 1 Martha Franks Drive, Laurens, SC  29360.
