Mac McGinnis - Ninety Six

  Kevin John “Mac” McGinnis, 67, of Ninety Six, husband of Linda Templeton McGinnis, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at his home.

  Born in Albany, NY, he was a son of the late John Edward and Eleanor Fay McGinnis. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University and his Master’s degree from Webster University. Mac retired as Major with the United States Air Force after serving his country for 34 years and as a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was retired from the SC State Department of Corrections and taught school in Greenwood School Districts 50 and 52 for the past ten years.

  Mac was a member of the American Legion, the Greenwood Shag Club and St. Paul United Methodist Church.

  Surviving is his wife of the home; a son, Marc McGinnis and his wife, Ellen, of Coral Springs, FL; two daughters, Erin Prevost and her husband, Rene, of Green Acres, FL and Katie Davenport and her husband, Jason, of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Ryan and Laura McGinnis of Coral Springs, FL, Jada Prevost of Green Acres, FL and Jack Davenport of Greenwood;  his sister, Susan McGinnis of Fort Walton Beach, FL; his mother-in-law, Susan Holley of Ninety Six and sister-in-law, Katherine McGinnis of Williamsburg, VA.

  He was preceded in death by his brother, Peter McGinnis.

  Services will be at 4 pm Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Philip Chandler officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

  The family will receive friends in the church parlor on Tuesday from 2:30 – 3:45 p.m.

  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, PO Box 66, Ninety Six, SC 29666 or to The Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka KS 66675 (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).

  Harley Funeral Home and Crematory (www.harleyfuneralhome.com) is in charge of arrangements.
