Bettie Joyce Martin - Greenwood

Mrs. Bettie Joyce. Martin 79, of 310 Ashcroft Drive widow of Charlie Frank Martin died May 8, 2013 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont.

She was born in McCormick, SC September 21, 1933 a daughter of the late Willie Middleton, Sr. and Savannah Wideman Middleton. She joined Holy Springs Baptist Church at an early age  where she served as  a former Mother  of the Church, member of the Gospel Choir, the Usher Board and responsible for forming the childrens'  Sunbeam Choir. She was formerly employed with Abbeville Manufacturing and a Home Healthcare Patient Sitter. She was also a member of Bethany Chapter of O.E.S .

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Griffin and a son, Bobby Martin.

Surviving are four sons, Davie Middleton(Mable), Charlie Martin, and Tommy Wayne Martin all of Greenwood, and Stephen Martin(Tracy) of Johnston , SC; four daughters, Theresa Martin of McCormick, SC, Virginia Moore(James) and Karen Duncan(Randolph) of Greenwood, and Sgt 1st Class Ronetta M. Martin of Camp Atterbury, IN; one sister, Mildred Famborough of McCormick; 3e grandchildren,  seven  reared in the home, Kelvin Martin, Marcilla Murray, Tomeka Harris, Clifton Martin, Yolanda Key, Lawanda Morton and Bruce Martin , 41 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 3PM at Holy Spring Baptist Church with Pastor  Robert Knox officiating assisted by Pastor Derrick  Scott and Pastor Jimmy Gilchrist

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bethany Lodge# 415

Flower bearers will be Friends and family.

Mrs. Martin will be placed in the church at 2pm.

Percival Tompkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the Martin/Middleton family.
