Charles James Crawford, 69, of 206 Larkin Drive, devoted husband of Jean Stargel Crawford, died Monday, June 24, 2013 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Bill and Dolly Dodgins Crawford. He retired from Solutia (formerly Monsanto) after 37 years of service and was a member of Coronaca Baptist Church. Charlie was an accomplished baseball and softball player for many years, including American Legion Post 20 and Industrial League Softball. Anyone who knew Charlie, knew he was a “Man’s Man”.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years; three sons, Doug Crawford and his wife, Kim, of Ninety Six, Mike Crawford and his fiancé, Missy, of Greenwood and Chris Crawford and his wife, Angela, of Hodges; two brothers, Bill Crawford of Elberton, GA and Joe Crawford of Spartanburg; nine grandchildren, Terri Lewis (Daniel), Josh (Ashley), JK, Haylee, Kelsey, Hunter, Keira, Aidan and Kian Crawford; and three great grandchildren, Kasi Lewis, Dalton and Bryson Crawford. He loved his family and the time he spent with them. He was also lovingly known as Poppy. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Todd Polatty officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
