Florence Wood - Greenwood

Florence James Wood, 96, resident of 1110 Marshall Road, widow of William Esley Wood, died July 6, 2013 at Wesley Commons.

Born in Greenville, SC September 13, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Boyce M. and Ethel Harrison James. Mrs. Wood graduated from high school in Wyoming and attended the University of Wyoming. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, SC and the Henry Reynolds Sunday School Class. 

Surviving are two sons, James H. Wood and wife Mary Jane of Greenwood and Robert J. Wood and wife Suzanne of Washington, DC; a daughter-in-law, Carol Hamner and husband Ralph Hamner of Hot Springs Village, AR; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a son, William Esley Wood, Jr. and a brother, Boyce M. James, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Charles Moates officiating.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.

The family is at the home of James and Mary Jane Wood, 727 Callison Road, Bradley, and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday evening.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd, Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646 or to the charity of one’s choice.
