John Earl Henderson, Jr., 64, resident of 205 Fawnbrook Drive, husband of Lynn Garron Henderson, died July 24, 2013, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born January 10, 1949, in Greenwood, he was a son of the late John Earl, Sr. and Alice Shaw Henderson. He was a graduate of Gardner-Webb University. Mr. Henderson was formerly the owner/operator of Henderson’s Textiles and Mildew Magic.
A member of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church he was also the teacher of the Ready Men’s Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Gideon’s International, Greenwood Camp, was active with the Southern Baptist Foreign Missions, the Prison Ministries of Leath and McCormick Correctional Facilities and conducted worship classes at Emerald Gardens.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Amy H. (Mark) Connolly of Lincolnton, NC; a son, Matthew (Jada) Henderson of Shelby, NC; two sisters, Jackie Boroughs of Monroe, GA and Totsie (Chris) Ledbetter of Ashboro, NC; a brother, James Henderson of Monroe, GA; four grandchildren, MacKenzie Connolly, Landon Connolly, McKenna Henderson and Walker Henderson. He was predeceased by a sister, Judy Patton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm Friday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryant Sims and Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Daryl Dodgen, Danny Polatty, Jr., Keith Allison, Jimmy Still, Mike Latham, Felix Someillan and George Warner.
Honorary escort will be members of the Ready Men’s Sunday School Class.
The family is at the home in Fawnbrook and will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 4 Friday afternoon.
