Gordon Lee Bailes, Sr., 92, resident of 613 Watford Avenue, widower of Marguerite Watson Bailes, died July 25, 2013 at his home.

Born in Anderson, April 7, 1921, he was a son of Samuel L. and Emma Bolt Bailes.  He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and a graduate of Erskine College.  Mr. Bailes managed and retired from Harper Brothers of Greenwood after 40 years of service.

A lifelong member of Greenwood First Presbyterian Church, Mr. Bailes also attended the Carpenter Sunday School of First Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the Greenwood Rotary Club.  Above all, his love of family and faith were his greatest treasures.

Surviving are two daughters, Marguerite Muzikowski of Houston, TX and Ann Romagnoli of Donalds; two sons, John Williams Bailes of Greenwood and Gordon Lee Bailes, Jr. of Johnson City, TN; seven grandchildren, Brian Bailes of Chapin, Lindsey Houser of Surprise, AZ, Braden Bailes of College Station, TX, John Bailes and Jeff Bailes, both of Charleston, Tonya Nucci of Johnson City, TN and Julia Muzikowski of Houston, TX and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Larry Duncan officiating.

Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery at 10:00 AM Monday.

The family is at the home on Watford Avenue and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 Sunday afternoon.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 426, Greenwood, SC 29648 or to First Baptist Church, 722 Grace Street, Greenwood, SC 29649.
