Ronald "Ronnie" Brown - Greenwood

  Ronald “Ronnie” Jerry Brown, of 116 Sherwood Drive, husband of Jill Clem Brown, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Self Regional Medical Center.

  Born in Laurens, he was a son of the late Fred Madden and Laura Sumerel Madden. He worked in the Press Room and was a composing Manager for over 40 years at the Index Journal and retired from the Index Journal. He was a member of Callie Self Baptist Church and attended Ninety Six Pentecostal Holiness Church. Ronnie was a Mason at Mathews Lodge and coached Little League for over 30 years at the Greenwood Parks and Recreation.

  Surviving in addition to the wife of the home, a son Jeff (Donna) Brown of Laurens; a sister Judy (Mike) Dawkins of Greenwood; three grandchildren: Reagan (Adam) Montjoy of Mauldin, Jordan (Michael) Whitmire of Mauldin and Mize McInvale of Charleston; two great granddaughters, Kyleigh Montjoy and Bailey Whitmire both of Mauldin; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

  Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at Ninety Six Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Bryan Brock and the Rev. Chuck Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

  Pallbearers will be Henry Knight, Johnny Ellenburg, Stacy Green, Kevin Fleming, Gerald Horne, and Greg Dawkins.

  The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at the church.

  Memorials may be made to Ninety Six Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund,206 State Street Ninety Six, SC 29666 and the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.

  The family is at 100 Draper Street, Ninety Six.

So sorry to hear of coach Brown's passing. He was a good man and will be missed. Our sincere condolences and prayers go out to the family.
