Homer Lawrence Scarboro, 70, resident of The Hampton House, 306 Grove Street, died September 11, 2013, at the Saluda Nursing Home.
Born January 2, 1943, in Belton, he was a son of the late S.T. and Decie Peeples Scarboro. He was a US Army Veteran and was the former Police Chief of McCormick and was formerly a welder with Quarles Electric.
Surviving are three daughters, Wanda and husband Frank Simmerman of Gray Court, Glenda and husband Curtis Hilley of Ninety Six and Tammy and husband Jimmy Cromer of Batesburg; a son, Lawrence Anthony Scarboro of Greenwood; a brother, Vernon and wife Barbara Scarboro of Cleveland, GA; eight grandchildren, Matthew Hilley, T.J. Scarboro, Brandon Scarboro, Maghan Gwinn, Amanda Stroud, Amy Simmerman, Angela Loe and Kevin Simmerman; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Scarboro.
Graveside services will be conducted at 4:00 pm Friday at the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Myra Taylor officiating.
Honorary escort will be Dr. Bryan Ellenberg and Dr. Ralph Riley.
The family is at the home of Glenda and Curtis Hilley, 2513 Tillman Territory Road in Ninety Six and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 2 to 3 Friday afternoon.
