Dorothy Hellams - Greenwood

Dorothy Bledsoe Hellams, 83, resident of 114 Mayapple, widow of Alfred D. Hellams, died Friday, August 11, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Whitmire November 16, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Isaac W. and Sarilda Wallen Bledsoe. Mrs. Hellams was a graduate of Whitmire High School and Newberry College. She retired after 33 years of service from Whitten Center in Clinton.

A member of Laurel Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Dorothy Hellams Sunday School Class and the Monday Morning Bible Study Group.

She was twice married, first to the late Richard G. Aga.

Surviving are a son, Richard G. (Melanie) Aga of Greenwood and a daughter, Donna Aga of the home; three grandchildren, Josh Prather, Amy Aga Simpson and Benjamin Cody Aga; four great grand-children, Caleb Simpson, Allie Simpson, Madison Aga and Jaxon Prather.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2PM Monday at Laurel Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Lowe and Rev. Robbie Stollger officiating. Burial will be at 5PM Monday in the Whitmire Cemetery, Whitmire, SC.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Dorothy Hellams Sunday School Class and members of the Monday Morning Bible Study Group along with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hale, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Latham, Nina Downey and Beverly Canova Burton.

The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 1PM Monday.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Sunday evening.
