Music on Maxwell returns this Thursday night at Sundance Gallery with singer-songwriter RB Morris, a musician with honky-tonk energy and solid inspiration. The show will be the final one for the season.

A power outage that produced one of the most memorable nights in Uptown Greenwood is a tough act to follow, but RB Morris is more than up to the challenge. Based out of Knoxville, Tenn., Morris brings an unusual blend of music that has been described as a cross between an urban Woody Guthrie and a rural Tom Waits. Morris is touring in support of Rich Mountain Bound, his fifth and most recent album.

“So many of my songs have never been recorded or documented at all: old love songs, country songs, mountain songs, drinking and highway songs,” Morris said. “Then I got the idea to pick out a few songs and make a record. I think it's some of my best material.”

A prolific writer, Morris recently published a new book of poetry, Keeping the Bees Employed. He previously published three poetry books and a one-man play. For four years, Morris was writer-in-residence at the University of Tennessee, located in his hometown of Knoxville.

Grits and Groceries will be providing food at the event. The menu can be found in the sidebar to the right. Howard’s on Main will be providing a cash bar.

Check out a sample of RB Morris by watching the video to the right. Tickets are still available for the show. They can be purchased for $20 by calling 864-227-1188.
