Random Act of Kindness

Me and my daughter had the most amazing experience at Dairy Queen tonight. We placed our order and when we got to the window to pay, I noticed the workers inside discussing something intently. I thought it might be something wrong with our order.

When the young lady opened the window she had the biggest grin on her face and said "ma'am I don't know why, but the car in front of you just paid for your order. She said she just wanted to do it."

That was such an awesome feeling that someone, a perfect stranger, would do such a random act of kindness. So I in turn paid for the order of the gentleman behind us. When we went to pull out, he pulled up beside us and with a big grin waved and expressed his gratitude toward us.

So to the woman in front of us who bought our ice cream, you not only touched me and my daughter, you also touched the lives of the young people working inside and the gentleman behind me. We all need to be more like you. God Bless You.

Years ago when the movie "Pay it Forward" was released, it moved so many people to start with random acts of kindness. We live in such a self centered society, it is such a blessing to be able to do this. It is just a blessing to to be able to do for others. And, it does make a difference in people's lives.

I have done this several time myself. I started doing this after a trip to Myrtle Beach one year. I had gotten off the interstate between Newberry and Columbia to get something to eat at McDonald's. When I pulled up to the window the lady in front of me had also paid for mine. I was in shock that particular day so I didn't think to do the same for the person behind me but I have done it several times leaving the message to "have a good day". It is an awesome feeling on both ends: the giver and the receiver. You both end up having a good day just by this small act of kindness. Too bad more people do not know the feeling the joy of giving can bring you.
